General Minister Search Update

The General Minister Special Nominating Committee is prepared to nominate an individual to the Presbytery for the position of General Minister. They have requested that the Executive Committee call a special Presbytery Meeting to hear their report and for the candidate to stand for election. The Executive Committee will consider this request at their July 9th meeting; further information will be available after that meeting.

Thank you to all the generous donors –churches and individuals who came together to donate Bibles to the Allegheny County Jail at the May 23rd presbytery meeting! There were 325 physical Bibles paraded in offering (236 personal size, 69 regular, 12 Spanish and 8 large-print). Plus, another $5,000 in donations was received, equivalent to 295 more.

Antiracism as a Way of Being

Antiracism as a Way of Being is a six-module/six hour video series developed for NEXT Church, a network of leaders across the PC(USA), and presented by Crossroads Antiracism Organizing and Training. This self-paced, online option is the equivalent of the ‘part 1’ workshops presented last April and November to Pittsburgh Presbytery. Completion of the six modules allows for participants to follow up, if they choose, by attending the ‘part 2’ workshop, Dominating White Ways, presented by Crossroads to members of Pittsburgh Presbytery, on Oct. 25 (4-8 PM) and Oct. 26 (10 AM-2PM).

Alliance for Honor and Repair

The website for the newly formed Alliance for Honor and Repair is now live! Check it out for resources, information about upcoming events, and more! Presbyterians Today featured a post from the Alliance’s blog written by the chair of the committee, Rev. Jeff Eddings. The blog provides insight on the name for the Alliance, and on the committee’s goal that “the Pittsburgh Presbytery may become a more harmonious, joyful, and just community within the Body of Christ.”
