Good News in Pittsburgh Presbytery!

The Good News from Beulah United Presbyterian Church

The week of March 1, a total of 25 folks from Beulah United Presbyterian Church, other area churches and residents of the community participated in a mission trip to Mississippi, with the purpose of assisting with the continued efforts of Hurricane Katrina relief.  During the week, they shared God’s love with five different families whose homes were in various stages of repair.  They put in many hours of labor during accomplished much, however, their team returned home feeling as though they were the ones who had been greatly blessed.  Because the need along the Gulf Coast is still tremendous, Beulah’s Mission Support Team has plans underway for making a return trip to Mississippi during the week of March 15, 2009.  Go to Beulah’s website for more details.

The Good News from Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon

Hand-crafted robes are being made and given to women who are undergoing radiation treatment for breast cancer at West Penn Allegheny Health System.  When the robes are turned in to the Volunteer Office at AGH, each robe has a label on it that states it was made by a “caring volunteer.”  Every month there is need for two dozen new robes!  The Dignity Robes Project Team is hoping Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon can provide many of these over the coming months. They have already delivered five Robes to AGH and collected over $200 in support of this project.

The Good News from the Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis

30@6 is a 30 minute worship service offered every Saturday evening at the Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis. Blended music, casual dress and preaching without a manuscript are all elements of this service. Average worship attendance includes mostly non-members. We'd love to see other churches initiate something similar. Come check us out!

The Good News from the Open Door Church & Valley View Presbyterian Church

The Open Door Church, Valley View Presbyterian Church, and Open Hand Ministries believe food equality, environmental stewardship, and job creation are justice issues that the church should take part in.  As a result, they are involved in developing a small, community-run, urban farm in the Garfield neighborhood.
