We Welcome Elder Ralph B. Lowe Jr. as Director of Justice Ministries!
We welcome Elder Ralph B. Lowe Jr, the new part-time Director of Justice Ministries. Ralph began his service on the presbytery staff July 1, 2019.
Ralph is currently attending Pittsburgh Theological Seminary seeking a Master of Divinity degree and serving an extended pulpit supply at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church in Gibsonia, in addition to serving as supply for churches in the Beaver-Butler Presbytery. His spiritual journey began in the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where, as a child and young adult, he was introduced to the love of Christ. He is, at present, a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church giving him a unique and diverse spiritual perspective.
Ralph is a native of the Pittsburgh area growing up on the Northside. He enjoys spending time with his family and, in his spare time, enjoys reading, jogging, and golfing. Ralph has been happily married for over 20 years to Kelli Lowe, a teacher in the Pittsburgh Public School District. Together, they are the proud parents of four amazing boys: Joshua, Jonah, Koen and Korey.
As a twenty plus year member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, the sense of a calling began during his service as an ordained elder of that congregation, one of several protestant churches studied for the Diana Butler Bass book, Christianity for the Rest of Us: How the Neighborhood Church is Transforming the Faith. While serving on session, Ralph developed a desire for a richer spiritual life centered on justice, diversity, and hospitality. That desire lead him to enroll at the seminary and as an Inquirer under care of the Beaver-Butler Presbytery to continue his spiritual journey in ordained ministry.
His contact information and bio are available online. Please join us in welcoming him to the staff and we ask you to hold Ralph in prayer as he engages the new ministry to which God has called him.
