In 2015, the awards were funded through the December "Celebration of Joy" held at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, the "Second Annual Torchbearers Luncheon" honoring elders held at the offices of Pittsburgh Presbytery, and the congregations of the Pittsburgh Presbytery. The students were awarded a sum of $9,558. The six recipients are: Alan Hord, attending Penn State University; Earl Hord, attending University of Pittsburgh; Maya Lee McCray, attending Penn State University; Shakinah Perry, attending Penn State University; Diamond Ricketts, attending Chatham University; and Shamon Walker, attending Westminster College. Members of the Pittsburgh NBPC express thanksgiving to all who contributed to the scholarship in support of this ministry that emphasizes the importance of post-secondary education and encourages the youth in our communities.
